About plan views in a 2d view display a floor plan a reflected ceiling plan or structural plan. I believe this tools are not design for this purpose. For creating complex roof it might be easier if you create separate roof then use join roof tool to join them later. About plan regions to define multiple cut planes within a plan view use plan regions.
