Roof Vent Rain Noise

The vent hood ducts through a rigid or flexible pipe to a cap on the roof or side of your home.

Remove the screws holding the vent in place. Often a stiff wind will open vent dampers causing them to periodically clang shut. The rain water then trickles through the lattice then drips on to the original roof surface and away in to the rain water drainage system. The problem is when it rains the sound transmits through the ducting down to the range hood.

If the noise drives you crazy new spring loaded backdraft dampers 9 to 30 depending on the size should solve the problem. Cut through any sealer that may be present. Silent roof will stop the great majority of rain noise on any composite roofing structure to a mere whisper. Climb onto the roof and locate the vent that is causing the noise.
