Roofing Paper Which Side Up

I finished installing 30 roofing felt paper on my 10x12 shed but after reading around it seems i put the wrong side up meaning the lines that were marked on the felt are facing down instead of up.

Tar paper always goes on the outside of buildings and its primary use is as a waterproofing agent. It is commonly called 15lb paper. This environmentally friendly paper is manufactured from 100 recycled fibers. Many rolls are pre striped allowing installers to keep a straight line when applying roll strips to the roof side by side.

Begin at the bottom edges of the roof and go up. Cover the peaks by laying the center of a strip of tar paper along the peak. Use more if the day is windy. Only a drip edge along the roof rakes is installed after the paper.

Tack it down with galvanized nails a hammer tacker or an electric staple gun. Fold it down over the peak so that. Tar paper which is a paper like material soaked in tar is used for building homes. Primarily used for roofs you can also use tar paper to line exterior walls before finishing them.

Place the sticky side down when laying tar paper. The fibers are set in alum to resist bleeding. Continue overlapping strips up each side of the roof leaving the peaks uncovered. Lay the first strip of tar paper side to side with its bottom edge along the edge of the roof.
